Easter 2008

We were lucky to have Chris home with us on Friday and we took FULL advantage of the extra day! We started off having a garage sale with our neighbors across the street. It was a last minute opportunity (we had charity scheduled to come pick everything up Saturday morning) so we just threw our stuff in with theirs and ended up making $54! Woo hoo! Riley enjoyed playing with their 7-year-old daughter. We finished pretty early, around 11am at the latest. When Riley went down for quiet time (oh, did I mention he has given up naps now that he's 3?! I fought it, but inevitably lost. So now we have movie time in the afternoon, or else he's a complete grump the rest of the day!) we worked in the backyard; mowing, cleaning furniture and toys, etc. We invited our neighbors over for a cookout that evening as well, so after yard work we ran to the store, got the food we needed, and headed home for a very enjoyable evening. We really get along well with our neighbors, and I'm so glad that we have started to hang out on a more friendly level now.

Saturday we did a lot of yard and house work again, played outside, and we actually had another cookout planned for the evening, with more attendees (had so many leftovers from Friday night that it just made sense), but around 6pm Riley came down with a fever. Justin was actually already at our house and started feeling bad himself and went home early. I told the neighbors we were having to cancel, but we made plans to meet up out front after bedtime to drink some of the beers we had stocked up on! Ha ha ha. OH! Chris also highlighted my hair for me that evening! I don't have a good picture of it yet, but it will come. Everyone says it looks good, but that I need to go lighter and MORE next time. We'll see. :-)
Sunday Riley woke up to find a wonderful basketful of goodies left by the Easter Bunny. EB had also left eggs all over the house for Riley to hunt and find. He did a great job! Some of the eggs were filled with candy, and some with money! He thought it was a blast. He had woken up a couple of times the previous night coughing, and about 6:45 he was sweating bullets, we assumed he broke his fever at that time because he didn't have one that morning when he woke up. After his egg hunt we died and decorated a little over a dozen eggs and let me tell you, Riley LOVES doing this! Why do we only do this activity once a year? We may start decorating eggs for every holiday...Mom's day, Dad's day, 4th of July, you name it!

Riley was still feeling pretty well, so we all had our baths, got ready, and headed to see Riley's first movie. Lucky for you all that I've already blogged about that event! *wink*
After the movie we headed straight to my grandparent's house for a family dinner. Almost everyone in our family was there, which is rare, and it was so great to see everyone! My nephew and my cousin's baby will be 1 next month, so I look forward to adding an Easter Egg Hunt to our family festivities next year! My PaPa's birthday was Monday, so after we ate and visited, he opened some presents (with a little help from a certain 3 year old) and then it was time to take all the sleepy heads home for the night.

It was another busy, successful and amazing day for our family. More memories to cherish and traditions to build on. We hope all of you had Happy Easters as well!
