Naptime Nightmares

Afternoon naps! Who needs 'em? Well, Riley does! He does just fine for his morning nap, but he just REFUSES to take his afternoon nap, and then he goes into a terror state! He’ll lay in his crib and cry and cry, but if I pick him up and put his head on my shoulder or chest, he’s asleep in 5 minutes, top?! But even then, he rarely sleeps longer than 45 minutes, and I know he needs more rest than that. I don't know what it is, but I hope he gets past this stage QUICKLY! Until then, I guess you can just call me 'Serta'.

4 Weeks Down

Weight Loss Update:
Lost 1 lb. this week
Total for 4 weeks: 7.5 lbs.

Once again, I'm happy with a 1 lb. loss because we had a cookout this weekend at our house (wanted to use the new gazebo in the back yard). I've got another 'off weekend' coming up for 4th of July, we'll be in OK visiting Melissa and family. I am really planning on doing 100% again after this weekend, including walking. I figure, if I can lose 1 lb. during weeks when I only go at it 70%, then I can only imagine how well I'd do going 100%. I got my new food, frozen selections this time including cakes and muffins and pizza, so I'm even more exciting about the next 2 weeks!

Riley is still keeping us on our toes, but we love every minute of it! He's growing up so fast! Sunday (June 26th) he found his feet! We woke up that morning and he raised his legs, looked at his feet, reached out and grabbed one! And he's been doing it ever since. He tries a lot, succeeds often! :) A new play toy, and it didn't cost us a dime!

3 Weeks In

Weight Loss Update:
Lost 1 lb. this week
Total for 3 weeks: 6.5 lbs.

I'm actually really happy with a 1 pound loss because I was SO BAD on Father's Day!!! Chicken, hamburger, hot dog, brownies, 'Sock it to me' cake, potato salad, macaroni salad, beans, and the list goes on! I was just hoping that I didn't gain any weight back, so any weight loss is exciting! I've decide to just do my measurements monthly, so that's why there is no 'inches lost' update this week. Today I will be ordering my first personalized menu. I'm psyched because I get to include chocolate cake, cheesecake, pizza, and more! I also slacked off my walking a little this week...actually haven't walked at all since Friday...mainly becuase it is just so darn hot outside, so I'm going to have to start going in the evening.

My little family and I are going to be working on our schedule. We are all going to try to get on a pretty tight schedule when it comes to waking up, going to bed, doing dishes, laundry, cleaning, walking, shopping, watching movies, etc. etc. etc. Chris & I think not only will this be good for Riley, but it will help us enjoy life a little more. I think we'll get more accomplished and we'll be able to 'schedule in' more fun time as well.

As far as Riley goes, he's amazing! We took his father's day and 3 month pictures this past week and he was just all smiles in them. They are amazing! I can't even pick a favorite, everytime I see one of them I can't stop smiling.

2 Weeks Down

Weight Loss Update:
Lost 3.5 lbs. this week & 3 inches. YAY!!!!
Total for 2 weeks: 5.5 lbs. and 7 inches.
I LOVE IT!

Riley update: He's sucking on his fingers more now. He had been sucking on a closed fist for awhile, but now he's opening those cute little hands and getting those fingers in his mouth. So cute!

Happy 3 Month Birthday!

I CANNOT believe how quickly time is going. It feels like just yesterday that I brought Riley home from the hospital, but he's 3 months old already. Wow. Time really does fly when you have kids.

Riley found his hands a while ago, but just recently he has discovered that he can bring them together and play with them. It's so cute, he's constantly got his hands together at his chest, rubbing them like he's worried! We're still working on Tummy Time, and he still hates it, but I'm confident he'll be a pro at holding his head up when he's ready. We are taking his 3 months pictures this weekend at Kiddie Kandids and we are so excited, I know they will turn out fabulous. We didn't take them this past weekend because our poor little guy had scratched his cheek.

I'm still on Jenny Craig. I had a few 'nights off' this weekend, but I still feel like I'm doing good. Even if I follow it 5 days a week, that's still 5 times better than before I started on it! I'm anxious to find out what my results are on Wednesday.

Father's Day is Sunday, June 19th. My daddy is cooking 'Beer Can Chicken' out on his grill for all of us...Yummy! It will be another exciting day for my little family as well, as it will be Chris' first Father's Day. Oh how the first year is filled with wonderful firsts!

1 Week Down

Weight Loss Update: I have lost 2 lbs. and 4 inches in the past week on Jenny Craig. I took 3 days off in San Antonio and I have walked 4 out of 7 days. I feel great! I love the food, I feel healthy and more energized already, I truly believe this is my last weight loss effort! (well, at least until baby #2)

Riley is growing in leaps and bounds. On Thurs. June 2nd he weighed 10 lbs. 11 oz. He smiles ALL the time and he's started 'talking', more than just 'cooing', it's adorable! He is reaching for and batting at his toys and can hold a toy in his hands for awhile. He loves to put everything in his mouth already, we can't keep his blankets out of there! (his Nonna actually just bought him a blanket made for that) His eyes are almost completely brown, his hair is still thick and long, and he has perfect hands and feet still. We're still working on holding that head up, as he still hates tummy time, but he'll do on a shoulder, so we know he has the capability. I know it will come when he's ready, no hurry. As Melissa says, he'll have it down by Kindergarten. No worries.

So right now I'm just enjoying life, as having a baby is a constant reminder of how fast it really does go by. I love every minute I spend with my little angel, and all my friends and family. I thank God for all I have in my life, I am very blessed.

Goodbye Baby Weight

I've joined Jenny Craig to get this baby weight (and more) off! I started on June 1st...hit a little roadblock over the weekend because we went out of town to San Antonio and we couldn't fit ANYTHING else in the car, much less a cooler of my food...and so far I love it. It's really easy to do and the food is actually really good. Wednesdays are my 'weigh days', so we'll see if there has been any progress. I don't really expect much, since I was off for 3 out of 7 days, but we'll see. I've been walking at lunch with Stephanie 3 times and last night we walked with Danny, Riley, Chris & all the dogs for over an hour, and I felt great! I love feeling healthier, now I just need to look healthier. Melissa just sent me an email with some college photos of us, before babies, and wow! It's funny how back then I always thought I needed to lose weight, and now I look at those pics and think, "Goodness, I was thin, I'd do anything to be that weight again!". Part of it comes with age I'm sure. Once I sart to see some progress I may decide to put up my weight and measurements and clothes size to track my progress even more, but we'll see how fast the weight comes off first. So now, I'm off to eat my second snack of the day, lowfat crackers and lowfat cheese...yummy!
