Synopsis: It's the story of two sisters with nothing in common but size 8 ½ feet. Maggie and Rose Feller are both best friends and polar opposites when it comes to values, goals and personal style. Maggie (Cameron Diaz) is a party girl who barely graduated from high school, recycles jobs as quickly as yesterday's newspapers and believes her biggest asset is her attractiveness to the opposite sex. Rose (Toni Collette) is a Princeton educated attorney at a top law firm in Philadelphia. Her low self esteem regarding her physical appearance has left her dating life non-existent. Rose's one joy in life is shoes (because they always fit), but unfortunately she has few social opportunities to remove them from her closet.
After a huge falling out, the two sisters travel a bumpy road toward true appreciation for one another - aided along the way by the discovery of the maternal grandmother (Shirley MacLaine) they thought was dead. Through their re-connection with their grandmother, Ella, Maggie and Rose learn how to make peace with themselves and with each other. (This movie is based on Jennifer Weiner's second novel, In Her Shoes, published in 2002.)
Review: I wasn't too impressed with this movie, personally. (Though I was impressed with Cameron's legs as always, which are shown off throughout the ENTIRE movie) This is a chick flick, no doubt, and even worse, a 'sisterly' chick flick. It follows the normal plot: Everyone's happy until something horrific happens, then they don't talk, then by some chance of fate they make up and live happily ever after. It has it funny parts...
Quote:
Rose Feller: My Marsha's vagina is made of diamonds.
Maggie Feller: Oh, well my Marsha's vagina is so perfect, it should be put in a museum.
...but overall, it's a little TOO unbelievable, a little TOO cutesy and a little TOO contrived. But that's just MY opinion!

Movie Review - "Elizabethtown"
Synopsis: After causing the Oregon shoe company he works for to lose hundreds of millions of dollars, Drew Baylor (Orlando Bloom) is fired for his mistake, and promptly also dumped by his girlfriend, Ellen. On the verge of suicide, Drew is oddly given a new purpose in life when he is brought back to his family's small Kentucky hometown of Elizabethtown following the death of his father, Mitch, as it falls to him to make sure that his dying wishes are fulfilled. On the way home, Drew meets a flight attendant, Claire Colburn(Kirsten Dunst), with whom he falls in love, in a romance that helps his life get back on track.
Review: This strays from the classic 'chic flic' plot, which I liked, but it is still one of those road flicks, where Bloom's character Drew is forced to go on a journey of sorts... and in the process realizes that while he was busy trying to succeed, he missed out on doing all the things that really matter. I found this movie was like reading a good book. If you've ever had a deep thought about life, or questioned the path your life has taken, you will find something in this movie that touches a chord within yourself. I really didn't expect too much from this movie, but ended up pleasantly surprised. It has a joy to it, a basic sense of optimism and a light touch. I enjoyed watching it, and if you haven't seen it, give it a chance, I think you'll enjoy it too.
**Please feel free to comment and give your own 'review' of any movie or book I decide to feature on my blog...just trying to add some new things.**
***Disclaimer: Some of the verbiage has been borrowed...I don't have time to 'synopsize' every movie I'm gonna review!***

Check It Out!
Hey, check out my video blog, I've got three CUTE AS HECK videos of my precious baby boy posted! Here are some pics for ya too:

These are from last Friday when we went to the pool with Joy and Jake...Riley had a BLAST!

We're in a little fountain area that flows into the pool and he just had a ball with that 'waterfall'.

Self Portrait - but he wanted to go back to the waterfall, posing with Mommy is boring.

YAY! Back to the fun!

He would lean forward and put his face in it, he might have been drinking it, who knows?!

Father's Day Gift - A new gas grill! (He got it early cuz I had to have bro's help gettin it!)

Grilling out, THE NIGHT he got it, at about 11pm or so!

At the lake last Saturday...he would NOT let go of Uncle Danny's phone! I don't know who he's talking to though!! :-)

15 Months Old
Went to Riley's 15 month check up on Thursday and here are the results: He's doing great! He's still skinny...19 lbs. 10 oz...but he's gone up on his own little curve a bit, so that's good news. He's gained 2 lbs. in the last 3 months! Which is a lot since he's started walking since his last appointment. He's 31 inches long. Doctor says he is advanced in his vocabulary, so that was fun to hear! She was very happy with his check-up, which makes me very happy! He had two shots, one in each leg, but he did so good, just a little cry, not that 'scream out loud and stop breathing' cry he used to give off...my brave little boy!

He's growing up so fast, I just can't wrap my mind around it! New words every day...boat, color, owey, play, Jason...the list goes on and on and on! Climbing, running, playing. We signed up for swimming lessons that start on June 19th and go almost every day for 2 weeks, so we're really excited about that. It's just a really fun time and I'm enjoying every single second of it!

We also have a new 'mystery word'…Cob-ee? He seems to use it in reference to coloring and wallets? I know, weird. He has been saying 'color' for awhile, but then started calling our wallets 'cobee' and now he's pointing to his crayons and drawing pad and using the 'mystery word'. Any ideas, feel free to share!

First Swim Lesson
The directions MapQuest gave me were WRONG, so I try calling the pool when I realize I can’t find it, and no one answers, so I call the Parks & Rec office and these teenage girls don’t have a CLUE how to give directions, so I’m driving around in circles for 30 minutes…FINALLY around 10:45 (lesson started at 10:30), some guy gets on the phone and gives me GOOD directions…but I’m still 10 minutes away. We get there, get in the pool, and 10 minutes later the lesson is over. Riley’s the oldest child, there were only 2 others there today, but there are more signed up. My friend who joined the same class was sick today, so she will be there in the future. Today we worked on kicking, which Riley does well…arm motion, which we need to work on…and blowing bubbles, which we also need to work on because he likes to drink THEN blow bubbles!!! Tomorrow is lying on their back and kicking, so we’re going to work on that tonight during bath time because he’s not real comfortable with it. He just loves the water though! We went to the pool with my friend, Joy, on Friday and I got some great video and pictures that I will try to post this week!
Edge Fest
We (Danny, Stephanie, Justin, Chelsea, Chris and I) went to Edge Fest yesterday. Danny, Steph and Justin got there at 9am when the gates opened and the rest of us got there about 12:45. We missed Nonpoint and Hawthorne Heights, which is a bummer. For those who don't know, Edge Fest is an all day, ourdoor concert and this year it featured 20 bands...Nonpoint, Hawthorne Heights, 30 Seconds to Mars (Jay Leto's band), Flyleaf, Buck Cherry, Seether, Staind, Shinedown, Hoobastank, 10 Years, Toadies and MORE! It was AWESOME! I am SOOOO sunburned today, and I lathered on sunscreen all day, but there was no shade, so what else could one do?
Saturday we went to the lake and spent 2 hours on my parent's new Waverunner! Arms were sore from holding it steady because it was very windy and I forgot how much the sun refelcts off the water and got a sunburn on my shoulders and the tops of my legs then too!
Any-hoo, I'm exhausted, sore and sunburned today, but it's Monday, so back to work! Riley has is first swim class today at 10:30, which I'm so excited about. I have a feeling it's going to be a busy and hectic week, so I thought I would just post a quick update, in case I got MIA for awhile. Hope everyone is doing well!

"This is true love - you think this happens every day?"
For those who don't know, Princess Bride is my FAVORITE MOVIE of all times, I absolutely adore it! So my friend, knowing of my adoration, sent me a link to discover what character I am like from the movie and my results follow. Needless to say, I'm very happy with the results, I was afraid I'd end up being like Vizzini!

The Deck Project
"If you build it, they will come."
Really? Let's find out!

I dug that hole, the one on the left. No really, I did!

Be sure to pay attention to the shade line, and how much we did & didn't have at certain times during the build.

Getting closer.

Getting dark and getting close!

Final touches....

DONE! Don't they look proud of themselves?
Okay people, we now have a deck...who's coming over for BBQ?

Sumertime is Here!
Riley is definitely our little water baby! He loves being 'outs' and playing in the water. We've already been outside at our house 3 times, 2 sprinkler times at Melissa's, the public pool in OK, and even a Slip 'n Slide at a friend's house. This weekend we're looking forward to swimming in Bob's pool and we even got Riley one of those floating swimsuits so he can be more 'independent'. Here are some pictures of his summertime fun so far!
