Poopy

Aaahh, the days of easy diaper changes are over...now the fun really begins. With the insertion of solids in his diet, Riley's 'poopy' diapers now rival toxic waste dumps! And on top of the new smell, color, consistency, and VOLUME, he squirms all over the place, and those precious little hands always seem to find their way 'down there'. What a mess!
But, he is growing up so fast! He's in such a cute stage right now. He loves to 'grrrr' and if you 'grrrr' back, the battle can go on forever. He's rolling over all the time, the baby boy I couldn't get to lay on his tummy, now won't stay off of it! He loves to reach for and grab everything: pens, remotes, noses, hair, drinks, toys...everything. He loves to type, so he's got his own keyboard now. He's just so much fun!
The part-time is working out well, I love spending more time with him. If I could stay at home full-time I would.

I'm Lovin' It!

3 days into part-time at work and I LOVE IT! I really feel like I have more stress-free time with my baby boy and I have more energy at the end of the day to spend on him. I think he's enjoying it too. Last night was my first FULL night's sleep since I was 6 months pregnant!!! He slept from 10pm to 7am...and when he did wake up, he just laid there and looked around, he didn't even fuss to wake me up, so who really knows when he woke up? All I know is that when I woke up at 7am to use the restroom, he was awake!
He's eating oatmeal for breakfast now. I'm not really sure how he likes it yet, he eats, but isn't overly excited about it. He is teething, we went through a pretty rough day yesterday. It's so sad to know that he's in pain and only be able to do so much for him.
Well, it's about time for me to get off work!!!!

Part-Time

It has been decided...I will be working part-time at work and staying home with my son part-time, starting on Monday the 15th. I am SO EXCITED! It's the best of both worlds, money and time with my baby boy. There will be plenty of financial challenges along the way, but I know it will all be worth it. I will have to quit Jenny Craig, but I have learned so much in the 2 months I've been a member that I have faith I will be able to continue making healthy choices and losing weight.
Riley will be 5 months old on Saturday...as usual, I can't believe it, it's gone by so fast! He is scheduled to take his pictures at Moto-Photo in Frisco Saturday morning, so we just hope he's in a 'happy mood'! We're going to try oatmeal cereal on Monday, the 15th, and then we're hoping to move into green veggies on Sept. 1st. He has his weight check-up next Thurs. the 18th, we're very anxious to find out if he's gained and how much.
We have some busy months coming up: pictures and paint this weekend, new furniture being delivered the 20th, I've got a 'Body Wrap' on the 27th for Steph's wedding, the next weekend is Labor Day weekding and we're hoping Chris' family (sister & fam, grandfather, and dad & step-mom) are coming in to visit, then the 10th of Sept. is Steph's lingerie shower, mom and dad are getting a lake house on Lake LBJ the weekend of the 17th, our friend's wedding is the 24th, then couple's shower for Danny & Steph on the 1st, followed by their bachelor and bachelorette parties, and their wedding is 2 weeks later on the 15th, AND my niece's birthday party is the 22nd of Oct. in OK!!! Whew! It's gonna be a blast! Before I know it, it'll be Thanksgiving and Christmas! :)

By George I think he's got it!

I think Riley has finally mastered the skill of SWALLOWING the rice cereal, as opposed to spitting it back out at me! It has been so fun feeding him and watching him learn this new skill, he's just too cute with rice cereal all over his face!

Yummy!
But now, more of it ends up in his belly than on his face, which is a good thing. We're going back to the doctor on the 18th for a weight check, so I'm hoping this rice ceral (and the formula it's mixed with) will have added some weight to my baby boy. He also gets 1 shot. :(
He's also working a third language, but this one only has one syllable: mmmm... He just constantly makes this noise, sounding like his lips are sewn shut. It's too cute (don't I say that all the time?). I just know he's got such important stuff to tell me, I can't wait to find out what it is!
It truly is amazing how fast time goes when you have a child. I'm sure I've mentioned this a hundred times before, but it honestly feels like just yesterday that we brought him home from the hospital, and now he's rolling over, holding his head up, eating solid foods, what's next? His first car! Seriously though, whether it's a new life, or the loss of an older one, time is precious and we have to cherish every moment we have with those we love.
