I've Been Tagged

My BFF, Marianne,
tagged me to share 7 random/weird facts about myself as well as tag 7 of my friends to do the same. It’s really hard coming up with 7 things but I will definitely give it a try!

1) I have this crazy...I don't know what you would call it...compulsion? The only way I can think to describe this 'weird fact' about me is an example: I'm in the shower and for some reason I think to myself that I want to have my mom show me how to sew a patch onto a vest. I finish my shower, dry off, get dressed, etc. Then suddenly I remember that there was something I thought about in the shower, but I can't remember WHAT that something is. This is when the 'compulsion' sits in. My stomach becomes knots, and I can think of NOTHING else while trying to get my brain to probe deep and remember what it was I had thought about. Do we need to more shampoo? No. What about a new razor? Nope. I will even go STAND IN THE SHOWER to try and relive the moment I thought of this 'thing' I want to remember. Half the time it's actually important 'to-do' type stuff (once I finally remember, after obsessing for hours sometimes), other times it's stupid little anecdotes that have no right controlling me the way they do. It's horrible, and anyone who knows me at all knows exactly what I'm talking about, so I probably shouldn't obsess over trying to explain it perfectly any longer. Moving on. Ha ha ha.

2) Going to 'borrow' from Mar's list, because I can't leave this out, it's one of the most important 'facts' about me at this time. I love to read, and I love to find new books to read just as much! On my Goodreads list I have 606 books, 154 that I have read and 448 to-read. I like to think that I will someday get through all the books on my list but at the rate that I keep adding them, it’s not likely to happen. I love having other people recommend books to me and I love to just browse around the library and find that occasional 'diamond in the rough'. The one thing I am missing to accompany my love of books is a book club...but I'm about to start working on that!

3) Another one that is probably not a surprise to those of you who know me well...I'm a list maker! I have them everywhere and anywhere. Probably too many, but I DO have a sense of organization...even if it is organized Chaos. Recently I have FALLEN IN LOVE with a website, gubb.net, which keeps all my lists in different categories ONLINE. I can access them anywhere and share them with people! I could even create a Christmas wish list for Riley on there, for example, and share it with people looking for ideas. I already have one that is shared with Chris, so he can see his 'honey-do' list before he even gets home! LOVE IT!

4) My BIGGEST pet peeve...and I hardly even go to the mall anymore...is the people who are coming in the mall entrance, where there is NO stop sign, and they STOP!?!? Are you KIDDING ME?! While those of us who can actually read road signs are sitting there waiting for them to get a clue! This has been a pet peeve of mine for as long as I can remember! Before I was even driving myself, and people STILL don't have a clue! Sheesh! I'm annoyed just thinking about it!

5) I met my husband through my college roommate/sorority sister, he's her brother! And I'm happy to say that today she is still one of my best friends, as well as my sister-in-law. My husband and I actually met at her engagement, but we were both dating people at the time. However, just 2 short months later we were single, I needed a riding buddy for our long-planned trip to an amusement park, and Mel suggested her brother join us. Who knew we'd fall for each other!? Whether Mel knew it or not, she'll never know how grateful I am for bringing Chris into my life!

6) My ALL-TIME favorite movie is 'The Princess Bride'. I loved this movie as a child, and I've only grown fonder of it with time. I remember my mom (and brother) buying it for me...on VHS...when I was home sick from college one weekend. Unfortunately, I still don't have it on DVD...which is a serious situation that I should rectify soon. It's one of the most quotable movies EVER, too, so here are some of my favorites: "As You Wish"; "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."; "This is true love, you think this happens every day?"; "No more rhyming, I mean it! - Anybody want a peanut?"; "INCONCEIVABLE! - You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."; "You've been mostly dead all day"; "There's a shortage of perfect breasts in this world. It would be a pity to damage yours."; "DROP... YOUR... SWORD!"; "Mawage. Mawage is wot bwings us togeder tooday. Mawage, that bwessed awangment, that dweam wifin a dweam...And wuv, tru wuv, will fowow you foweva..."; "Since the invention of the kiss there have been five kisses that were rated the most passionate, the most pure. This one left them all behind. The End."; "My brains, his steel, and your strength against sixty men, and you think a little head jiggle is supposed to make me happy?"; "Good night, Westley. Good work. Sleep well. I'll most likely kill you in the morning."; "Love is pain, highness. Anyone who says different is selling something."

7) I collect shot glasses. Any and all kinds. My very first shot glass was from my big sister in my sorority during my freshman year of college. Unfortunately, that one got broken, but I replaced it with a replica since it was so special to me. I have around a hundred, probably, although I haven't counted recently. Anytime someone goes somewhere and brings me back a souvenir, that's what I get! My most recent addition was from my mom, from her trip to Branson, MO. I even have a few from out of the country: Paris, Cancun and Canada!

I tag these people to also share 7 things about themselves:

Mel, Katy, Karen, Belva, Jenny, Katie, Joy

Riley's New Haircut

BEFORE

This was last Christmas:

This was the first week of September, this year:

AFTER

I just want everyone to know that he ASKED for this!!! Ever since my nephew got a fauxhawk, Riley has been asking for a haircut 'like Xander's'. Well, I told him I didn't think he needed to have the exact same one, so he said, "Just spikey, then?" (Part of this came about because I always give him funny hairstyles in the tub when I wash his hair) So he mentioned this, again, during bathtime last Tuesday, and I happened to watch 'One Tree Hill' that evening and when I saw Jamie Scott I thought, "That would be cute on Riley!" So we went the next day!

Riley LOVES it! The first 48 hours after it was cut he would literally check himself out in the mirror every hour! And if he was playing rough he's stop mid-tumble, look at me seriously, and ask, "Did I mess up my hair?!!?" It's a big change, and I LOVED his long hair, but it grows VERY fast and I'm sure we'll see again sometime!
