We showed Riley his brand-spankin'-new Spongebob Squarepants room yesterday - complete with sheets, bedspread, hamper, pillows, night light, and drapes (soon at least) - and he loved seeing 'bunbob' all over...he really liked it.
So we put him up there in his crib for nap and he stayed awake talking and making noise for about an hour, then finally fell asleep for an hour or so aftwards. The good thing is that there was NO crying or screaming! In the past he would FREAK OUT when I put him in his crib for nap...acting like the boogeyman was coming to get him...totally scared of his room. But not yesterday!
Then we put him in there for bed last night...this was a FIRST...he has never slept a night in his crib in his bed. He did great. We hung out at my brother's last night so Riley actually fell asleep there, but he woke up in the car on the way home and stayed awake as we drove, got home and carried him upstairs. He was 'slightly' awake when we layed him in his crib and made no fuss whatsoever. That was about midnight and he slept until 8:15 this morning. When he woke up, it was just the normal, minimal fussing to let us know he was awake, no screaming or crying that sounds like he's scared out of his mind.
So, I think we can say that Day One for Mission Crib Sleeping was a success!!!
Also, I wanted to send a shout out to BEN - HAPPY 30th BIRTHDAY BEN!!!!!!!

YAYYYYY!! That is wonderful! Such a big boy! I knew he could do it! Love the 'bunbob' room! Too cute! ;-) Good job little man, Aunt Bissa is so proud!
And yes, happy happy birthday to Ben who has finally caught up with me. ha ha.
His comment just popped up (he is in the other room on his laptop) don't believe him- we watched football ALL day and night yesterday...not even on his birthday will I watch more! HAHAHAHAAH! ;-) ;-)
WOW That is amazing! Jenna has a DORA room and refuses to sleep in it! So she is still in the bed with us! It's funny though because she TELLS everyone about her room and how she sleeps in her bed!!! HA HA! GOOD JOB RILEY!

YEAH!!!!! Everyone can get some sleep now :o) :o) :o) See? Everyone will do it when they are ready.....in our own time :o)
Great Job Riley! I know its a big step for you and your mommy and daddy. Heather you will be soooo glad to have your room to your self! I never regret putting Jake in his room at 2 weeks old. But, we share a wall with his, so it's way different than putting him on another floor! Yeah!
