My Dearest Riley,
You are 18 months old today and I cannot believe how fast time has gone by. I know I say that all the time, and I say it to everyone, but it's so true and you will not understand it until you, yourself, have children of your own. And you will not understand the immense and undying love that I feel for you every single moment of my existence. You are an absolute joy to be around and such a blessing in my life.
You are doing some of the most amazing things nowadays...well, at least they are amazing to your mother. You are counting (you get about every other number 1-10), you know so many animals (cow, horse, dog, duck, penguin, bear, fish, monkey), animal sounds (oo oo aa aa, moo, ruff ruff, growl), parts of the body (hair, eyes, nose, ear, mouth, teeth, hands, belly, penis -yes, you had to learn it sometime -, toes, feet), you recognize so many people in your life (Mommy, Daddy, Danny, Cutey, NaNa, Grumpa, Red Rum, Bob, Brooke, Becca, Mar, Lea, Aunt Bissa, and more), you know too many words to list, you can tell us what you want, you can answer when we ask a question, and TODAY you picked up all your blocks and put them back in the bucket when I asked you to! You love dancing and are just getting around to singing (Happy bday, ABC's - you try to so hard -, Go Diego Go, Dora The Explorer). Coloring or drawing on a 'magna-doodle' are among your favorite past-times. Your vocabulary amazes me every day, and every day you say a new word; you are a sponge with the memory of an elephant!
I cannot list everything that you have now learned to do because you are growing and developing so much everyday. I cannot express to you - or to your father, who has helped give me the opportunity - how much it means to me that I am able to stay home with you during the week. I am so thankful that I am able to play with you, read with you, teach you colors and shapes, make your lunch, put you down for nap, and just watch you 'be' every day.
You are my Little Man, my sugar bear, my Ri-Dog, my 'kid' and I love you with everything I am, with everything I have and will do so forever, and always.
All My Love,
Mommy

How sweet! ;-)
That is so sweet!
And Grandma's feel so much the same. I'm too young to be a grandmother but I would not change a thing and i'm looking forward to the next one coming soon. Thank you Heather and Chris so much for giving me someone to love so much it hurts.
Nana
That is so sweet Heather. My mom wrote me letters as she was pregnant with me and I cherish them dearly. Riley will love these letters as he grows up, make sure to put copies in his baby book.
Aw Heather, that was beautiful. Isn't being a mother the most wonderful thing in the world? It's soooo great that you are able to enjoy and love Riley every moment.
