First Words

HAPPY EASTER!
We are heading to my parent's and then out to the ZOO today! Mom baked a turkey yesterday, so we're going to have a picnic at the zoo with yummy turkey sandwiches. After the zoo we'll do a little egg hunt with Riley at mom's. Fun Day with Family.

I have been working on this list for a long time now, so I think it's time to post it!

Here are most of the words Riley can now say, and many of them he has been saying for some time now.

*Daddy (Diddy, Deddy or Daddy) - This was his FIRST word ever, but probably his 3rd to use appropriately
*Bye Bye - said with a wave! This was his THIRD word, and he uses it correctly; He also says, "Bye Bye Daddy!" in the morning when Chris leaves, with such enthusiasm too.
*Ma Ma or Mommy (Ba Ba & Bobby) - Ma Ma was his SECOND word, but he knew exactly whe he meant when he started using it. I loved it!
*Grumpa (pronouncd bum-pa) - this is my dad, he also calls my mom this, even though she's Nana
*Baby and Babies - this is one of his favorites, pretty much says this whenever he sees a picture of himself or a baby and when he looks in the mirror, sunglasses, window reflection, etc.
*Bailey (Bayla) - this was one of his very first words, starting saying it around November I believe, it's our dog's name
*Good Girl (guh gir) - he heard me call Bailey good girl and so he started calling her this. I love to hear him say 'G's.
*Book (booh-Kah...strong emphasis on the K at the end?) - this is another favorite, says it ALL the time, because there are books and magazines everywhere
*Juice (jyeesh) - this was another one of his very first, probably started saying it in December or so
*Cookies (cogees) - used for cookies, crackers, chips, etc.
*Banana (bayna) - he KNOWS this word and he KNOWS when he wants one, it's his favorite food
*Bite - used when he's hungry, or if we're not paying attention and he needs more food!
*More (Mo) - also used when he's ready for another bite
*Brooke & Becca (Book and Bec-KAH) - he'll repeat this when we talk about them, but he uses Becca a lot when he sees little girls. He also recognized her pictures and says her name then. He loves his cousins!
*Blocks (bocts) - I have been listening to this one really hard trying to figure out how he pronounces it, I think that's it. This is a fairly new word, he got some blocks for his birthday so he's been working on it since.
*Piggies (piggEES) - These are his toes! He came up with this one on his own...I play 'This Little Piggy' with him, of course, but then one day he grab his toes and said, "PiggEES" and it stuck!
*Doggie (dog-EE) - He loves this word, when he sees a dog he just repeats it over and over and over
*Nose (ose) - he knows where his nose is and where other people's noses are
*Eye - he knows where my eye is, but not quite his own yet
*Ball - another word he knows very well and loves to say! This was another of his first words, he's been saying it awhile...in fact, it's nice to hear some new words now!
*Balloon (pahloo) - learned this from his birthday party, as there were plenty around
*No no - mainly a repeater when we tell him, but he'll say it to my mom's dogs sometimes when they are barking, or when one of them growls
*Eh eh eh - you know, the noise made to say 'No', my mom does it a lot, so he'll repeat her, or he'll say it when he's doing something he's not supposed to!
*Uh Oh - knows exactly when to say this
*Woah and Ooh - SO cute! He just says these when something catches his eye

*Up - he says this when we put his tray on his high chair because we always say, "Arms Up"
*Cheese - another favorite food he specifically requests at times
*Shoes (shoosh) - I love the way his says this! This was another one of his very first words. I remember him repeating it when we would say it, but then one day we passed by the shoe section at a baby store and he just blurts out, "SHOOSH"; it was a proud moment for his mommy!
*Diaper (die-pah) - uses this when we change him or ask him if he has a dirty diaper...mianly a repeater at this time
*Red Rum (re-rum) - Okay, this is a weird one. Riley likes to growl, and one time it reminded our friend, Justin, of the little boy from the Shining, so he started doing the finger motion (crooked first finger) and saying 'Red Rum, Red Rum', and Riley actually started repeating him; then he started saying it if you just did the finger motion; and now it's pretty much what he calls Justin. The minute he sees him, or even if we are talking about Justin, Riley will growl "Re Rum". A little psycho? Maybe. But cute, and funny, as hell!
*Thank You (shay shoo) - he can say this, and will if you ask him, but it's not something he says on his own all the time like some of others
*Thirsty (shirshy) - same as above...it's so cute to hear though!
*Please (peas) - same as above...we ask him to say this when he is pointing at something he wants, he's doing pretty well.
*Yes (ses) - another word he can repeat, but doesn't really say on his own yet
*Blue (ba-loo) - We're working on recognizing this color and this TV character...but it's so darn cute when he says it...nice and slow...ba-loo!

*Mmmmm - he uses this to let us know he really likes the taste of something; it's absolutely adorable! He had vanilla ice cream for the first time the other day (mom got me and her one at Wal-Mart/McDonald's the other day and he was 'sharing' with us), and EVERY BITE he would say, "MMMMmmmmm"...too cute!
*Bunny (buddy) - this is his 2nd newest word, thanks to Easter. We have a ton of bunny stuffed animals out for his to play with during the 'season', so now he knows what they are called
*Egg - his absolutely newest word, started saying it about 3 days ago probably. Once again, thanks to Easter. We have some plastic eggs out for him to play with, he LOVES him, and he has called them balls for the past month, but just the other he realized the difference, I guess.

Okay...I think that's it! I'm using this as Riley's baby book right now, so I've been trying to make this as comprehensive of a list as possible, and I think I succeeded!

Isn't it amazing how fast they pick up new words?? He is getting so big, I just can't believe it! I forgot to put on mine, similar to Riley's 'piggie,' Becca says "wee, wee, wee" when she sees toes and grabs them, so funny! I hope you have a wonderful Easter, I am looking forward to some pics! ;-)
