13 Months

Or Close Enough.
Riley is doing so much new stuff, and I'm so far behind in logging it, that this post will be dedicated to all these things.
-Blowing his food: It began by mimicking me when I would blow his food to cool it off, and now he'll just do it at random
-Throws a ball: He's been doing this for awhile, now he's working on kicking them
-Ice Sucking: With all the busted lips he had learning to walk, we'd ice them to stop the bleeding, and he loves ice! It was so easy, he'd just suck and suck on the ice as long as we'd let him.
-Mmmmm: He'll eat a bit of food and say, "Mmmm" if he likes it...this has moved to 'pretend play' in the bath, as he'll pretend to drink out of one of his stacking cups and say, "Mmmmm", so fun!
-Dancing & Singing: Riley just loves to do this! Not too long ago he was in the play room and hear the 'Backyardigans' come on in the living room, so he walks in and sits on the floor and starts bouncing and clapping to the theme song. It was adorable! Too bad the song doesn't last long enough for me to get the camera.
-Hair, Eye, Nose, Mouth: He's getting really good at knowing where these are and saying the words. Right now, he tends to only let Mommy see his genius, but we're working on the travelling show! He does really well with hair, that's the best so far.
-Spongebob: I NEVER thought I would let my child watch this show...I SWORE just the opposite...but it comes on after the other shows (Dora, Diego, Blues Clues, etc.) and Riley has been 'exposed' to it some. Once again, the other day he was in his play room and Spongebob came on in the living room and he literally RAN in, with a big smile on his face, to watch this show?!?! Oh boy. What have I done? (In defense, he doesn't really 'watch' tv all that often...usually during snack...so sometimes it gets left on when he goes to play, but he's usually in his play room, so I don't worry.)
-Garfield: Okay, Okay, another TV story. This is bad. He was having snack and watching the movie 'Garfield' last weekend and he just started CRACKING UP!!! I mean, out loud, busting it out! Apparently Garfield and Odie were dancing and he thought it was hilarious! It didn't stop there, pretty much the whole 15 minutes of the movie made him laugh. I think we're going to have to buy this one for him, because those giggles just made my day!
-XOXOXOXO: Riley's getting really good at giving kisses and hugs! At night Chris will take him to bed, but before he goes I ask Riley to come give Mommy a hug and kiss...and he does! All you mothers' know and remember what an amazing moment that is the first time it happens! He's also working on blowing kisses. Right now he can get the hand to his mouth, but it kinda stops there!
-Sssshhhhh: It is so cute to watch his mouth when he says this! I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about. He likes to say this to my mom's dogs when they are barking...then he'll repeat us when we way it to him when he's screaming! (he's a 'happy screamer'...it's rough...especially at the restaurants...what do you do? He's not mad, sad, hungry...he's happy?!?!)
-Weeeee: This is what he calls the swing he got for his birthday that hangs from a tree at mom and dad's. He says 'Weeee' when he swings, and now he says it when he rides or pushes his cars and wagon. I love it! It sounds more like 'beeee' when he says it! So cute my son is! :)
-New Words: You know I have to share these. Riley (this is a HUGE one...now all pictures, that used to be 'baby', are Riley or Becca); Walk (and he'll tell you 'WALK' when he doesn't want to be carried anymore...aaahhh, independence); NaNa (she's so happy to not be called 'Bumpa' anymore); Sock (they used to be shoes, and now he knows the difference, very huge in our world); Boo Boo (after having so many, this was inevitable...but he says 'Baboo'); Milk (all beverage used to be juice, now it's milk....now we work on clarification); Bath (and he still LOVES his baths); Snack (just said this one this morning...guess he got hungry enough to learn a new word!); No No (don't we love it when they learn this? Of course, he's in the mimic phase right now...so I tell him 'no no' and he turns, looks at me, and very seriously says 'No no' back! Hard not to smile)
-Bumpy: I think this should be his new nickname. He fell...again...but this time his a corner on the safety gate and got a NASTY bump..it was very close to sending us to the emergency room...but he, of course, turned out to be okay, but not after nearly giving his parent's heart attacks! It was THE SINGLE MOST scariest moment of my life.

I hate looking at it! It was so sad! After the first 10 minutes or so you, you wouldn't have even known Riley had an injury, he was back to normal, talking and walking and being silly!

I guess I'll end with some updated pictures. Enjoy.

Walking around at the park...Love his hat!

Favorite little reading spot! He loves to climb in and out all day long.

By George I think he's got it! New shape sorter...putting the right block in the right place...so smart!

Weeeeee! LOVES to swing!

Walking' around in his brand new Nikes. So cute!

New Ca Seat....the comparison in size cracks me up! He loves his new seat though!

Well, sorry so long, but thanks for visiting!

Wow on the bump pic. I'm glad you didn't have to go to the ER. He is growing up so quick, it's exciting to see all the new things he is accomplishing and learning to enjoy. Garfield definately sounds like a keeper if it can make him laugh. That is the best sound in the world!!

He is getting big so fast. I can't believe how much he looks like Christopher. That is a big bump, but thankfully we all make it out of childhood and coordination gets a little better. enjoy your time with him, it is precious

I agree that is a BIG bump!!! Isn't it just the scariest thing when they really hurt themselves!? I'm going to die(literally) the first time the kids break something!!! Or here lately we have been riding bikes alot. The first time Jackson falls off the bike and scrapes his face or hands or whatever!! Anyway, Good job Riley on the vocab! You have a good mommy I can tell!!!
