HELP!?!?
I was hoping that the few eyes out there that actually read my blog could help me out. Chris and I really need some free or very inexpensive marketing ideas for our photography business, as things are slow going in the advertising department. Some things that we have thought have include door flyers, leaving business cards everywhere we can, word of mouth to everyone we talk to, and we're looking into the cost of advertising space in 4 different local magazine mailers. We have a great lead at a real estate office for professional portraits and will continue to market to other offices in the area as well. But that's where I get stuck! Someone suggested I contact the local hospitals and see if I can include a coupon in the new parents' packet, and I need to look into that, I'm just unsure where exactly to start. Any ideas that any of you can offer would really help, I've got 3 months to make this successful or it's off to work for me.

I found a photographer in the newsletter sent out to all women who join this "Woman Plus" club for moms delivering at my hospital when I had Cam. She had a coupon for a free 8x10. What about asking OBGYNs and Midwifes if you can leave cards/ hang a photo of a belly in their offices? Pediatricians? Our has portraits on the walls of kids. Gymboree classes, churches, church newsletters, gymnasic classes, ballet studios, preschools....Offer free 8x10s to auctions, fundraisers, etc. Ask if you can put a coupon in church newsletters or daycare newsletters. Have a table at a school carnival....Right now Senior pictures are huge, try marketing to high schools.....Hmmmm I'll keep thinking!
Gwen has some really good ideas, I am kinda stumped! What about at MOMs clubs or MOPs? (Mothers of Preschoolers) meetings? Could you contact them and see about doing a presentation at a meeting? Maybe you could do a special for them, like rather than them doing a meeting they could come to your house for Mom & Tot pics for Mother's Day? What about our sorority alum group up there? Maybe you could contact them to do a special or heck, even the A&M club. All it takes is a phone call or email and the worst they can say is no!
Too bad you aren't near a base you could advertise in base paper, in family support center and CDC. Hmmmm....I will keep thinking and email you with any other ideas have...
Our daycare has a bunch of phamplets at the door. Have you tried leaving things at daycares- tons of mommies and daddies in and out of there every day! Our daycare also has people come in twice a year to take pics of the kids. Have you tried going there?

Our MOMS Club did something like this with someone. She gave us a small discount and offered us a great time slot to come and have pictures made. She was also getting her business started!! Good luck!
Seems like you have some good ideas here. Try to utilize them and we will help spread the word. I think everyone is pulling for you.
