Photo Buzz

Okay, here's the scoop. Chris has been into photography for years and years...got one of those fancy Nikon pro-grade cameras for his high school graduation even! And a year ago he upgraded to a Nikon pro-grade digital, which even fits all the lenses and accessories he had for the 'regular film' one (yes, I know all the terms, but figured I'd go 'layman's' on blog! lol). At that time he had the desire to try to make money with photography. We even had some friends over and shot them so he could set up a portfolio and website gallery. I can't tell you why, but we never moved forward after that. The only thing I can think of is that we weren't ready to spend the money on lighting, backdrops and props, but I really don't know.

So recently we discovered that a friend of mine...who lives in another city...has received the opportunity to start her own photography business utilizing an in-home studio. This is also something that we never thought of, maybe that's what kept us from moving forward? My sister-in-law, Melissa, suggested that we look into that option and finally move forward with the desire we let fade out a year ago. And we are!!!

We have decided to give it a shot! Our lighting and backdrops should be delivered tomorrow, we are frantically working away on our website and business plan and we couldn't be more excited! All our energy, time, thoughts and conversations have been focused on this task for over a week now...but we are getting so much done! As soon as we have our website up and running I will definitely share with all of you! Well, that's enough blogging, need to get back to planning! Ha ha. Hope everyone is doing wonderful out there!

Hey Heather- that is fun! I should have told you, we use plain ole sheets for backdrops- they can easily go in the wash between each shoot, and when you do a lot of kids, they get dirty! (Spit up city!) We bought 3 plain flat sheets at WalMart in white (3) and black (3). We also mostly are using props we could buy at local stores- Garden Ridge, etc- they are so expensive to buy from the photo places. However, we did have to invest in lighting! Good Luck! Email me if you have questions....

I know y'all will do so well! I was looking at Christopher's website and through some of his old pic posts and came across some great portrait shots; I know he will just keep getting better and better! I can't wait to see how it all looks once you get your site up and running and do a few sittings. Do some family shots of us in Feb!!! ;-)

I need to have some pics done! Any chance Christopher can come up here and take some of us!!!! I have a friend that takes photos out of her home and I am going to try her out! She doesn't charge a sitting fee you just pay for what pics you want!!! Not quite sure how she makes money, maybe she isn't in it for the $$$$$, just the experience! I love photography as well. Those folks that know me know that I am never without my camera! Good luck!!!
