Well, nothing too exciting going on in my life now, but I thought maybe if I blogged about my 'nothing' it would feel more exciting?!?!?
Friday evening had a semi-surprise visit from my parents and grandparents (on my mom's side). We ordered pizza and just visited. It was nice. It is so special to me how loved Riley is by his great-grandparents...all of them (he's lucky enough to have met 9 and still have 8 living).
Saturday another set of grandparents (my dad's dad and step-mom) came by for a visit. They were unable to make it to the party because of the rain, so they wanted to come visit and bring Riley his gift. His gift is so cool!!! They gave him a Radio Flyer 'Retro Rocket'. I will try to upload a picture sometime this week. It's a 'rocket' with wheels that he can ride on by pushing with his feet. It's so cute! It's funny because Brooke just got her 'Retro' Radio Flyer tricyle from her grandma last weekend. Too bad we didn't have the rocket then, that would have made for some neat pictures together! Saturday night we went to 'Applebees' for a birthday dinner for my PaPa, so more grandparent-time! I love it.
Sunday was a 'lazy' day at home. I did laundry, dishes, worked on thank you cards and Riley's one year pictures, watched a TON of Law & Order (I told y'all I am addicted), and just did small stuff around the house all day while spending time with Riley.
Today I am working, working, working, while spending time with Riley and, apparently, blogging! Not too much planned for this week except the normal: work, Rilley, clean, Law & Order!!!! Oh! I did work on organizing Riley's clothes over the weekend. You know, going through and packing all the outfits that don't fit anymore to make room for all his new ones! And moving everything from our bedroom closet downstairs to HIS closet upstairs. Yes, he is finally going to start using his room. I won't make any more empty promises about him sleeping nights in there, but he is going to start storing his clothes in there, playing in there, and there are now DIAPERS and WIPES in there...so those are steps in the right direction!!
OH YEAH! Something for all you mommies and/or nurses out there! Lately Riley has been doing some things that are 'out of the ordinary' for him. He has either awoken in the middle of the night crying and it's very hard to soothe him back to sleep or he's waking up at 6am crying and not going back to sleep. And just today he has done the same during his nap, twice, but luckily gone back to sleep. This is strange for him because he usually sleeps about 10 hours straight through at night and would wake up about 7:30am. Last night he had a fever, too, but it was gone this morning (don't know if it's connected or not). Our thoughts are:
*weaning from bottle - maybe he was hungry? But now he's eating more at dinner and drinking his milk well at night
*teething - but he just cut 2 teeth and I can't feel/see any more?
*nightmares - didn't know if he was too young or not, but parents/grandparents have offered this has a suggestion.
If you have any ideas, have experienced this, etc. PLEASE let me know your thoughts! He's so sleepy during the day (and SO ARE WE) because of this.
Thanks in advance!

ARGH!!! stupid blogspot!!! I just tried to post a long comment and hit publish and got the 'cannot find server' message and lost it!! I will try to remember what I had said...
You are really on top of the blogging lately! I need to get back to posting more often! :-) The rocket sounds adorable! That would have been PERFECT to get some pictures of them together on them! Brooke loves her tricycle- we took some pics of her riding it and I have been trying to post them but I have been having issues with it!! My guess about Riley would be teething. Have you tried Hyland's homeopathic teething tablets? They have cammomile in them so they really help calm them at night when they are teething. They work for Becca (we used them with Brooke too) when she is waking up with sore gums. Hope that helps! Talk to you soon! :-)
Yes, that's exactly what I use for teething, but it doesn't seem to do the trick, so that's why I thought it might be something else??? Maybe I need to try Gripe Water, since it's kind of a solve-all?!? You know they sell it at the grocery store now? I saw it at Kroger the other day!
Heather-
There is a such thing as night terrors or bad dreams. You could search this on google and find info. He is not too young to experience these. The best advice as a nurse to give you, is comfort him and keep with your routine, he will probably grow out of this. It could also be teething and he is waking up because of the pain. Obviously I have no motherly advice to give you, so I hope the nursey advice helps.
Both my kids used to do that. I attributed it to either teething or just growing. I know that sounds funny but it's so true! Jenna borke out in some sort of rash with the teething tablets so I used alot of tylenol and mortin and that seemed to help her. Extra love, hugs and kisses too! Good luck. Riley will grow so much in the next year it will amaze you!!!
Thanks so much for everyone's advice!
I like the hylands too. I didn't know about them for my first so I did rely on motrin. That seemed to always do the trick. I also never heard of gripe water until the other day; but I have a friend that swears by it. Wish I could give you more info on the sleeping; but I'm still working on getting mine to sleep through the night period.
